Burgans takes great pride in being involved in our community. In 2006, our first effort with Anna Ogden Hall, we raised $14,000 which helped the shelter open an annex in the valley. In addition to the donations, we were also priveliged enough to purchase gifts for some of the residents for Christmas. This past November and December we raised $15,000! We want to thank each and every individual who visited our showroom and made a donation during our Spirit of Giving promotion. Our combined efforts over the past 2 years have given approximately $30,000 (including the gifts) to the Anna Ogden Hall.
Once again, in November of this past year Bruce McEachran and the Burgans Family answered a call from the community. When Mark Peterson and the KXLY Extreme Team called to see if we could help a mom, with Lupus, and her two teenage sons with some furniture, the answer was "certainly"! The boys received a bed and mattress set, along with a corresponding storage chest. Mom was also the recipient of a new bed, mattress set and a matching night stand. The living room was transformed with a new sofa, recliner, and cocktail table. It was truly heart warming to see the family enter their new surroundings; they were emotionally overwhelmed. Bruce said , "it's a privilege to help people who are trying so hard to make ends meet; hopefully, this holiday season will be a bit easier for them".
Our Spirit of Giving Promotion raised $8660 for the MDA last March (2007)!
Bruce McEachran, the President and owner of Burgans Furniture, was recently recognized for his generousity at a Spokane Rotary Club 21 meeting. Holmes Elementary School in Spokane's West Central Neighborhood is the poorest in the state...not the city, the state. When Bruce learned they needed a sofa and a rug to cozy up a reading area where adult tutors work with the kids, he went out to the school, measured the area, went back to Burgan's, picked out a beautiful but durable leather sofa, chair, ottoman and area rug, that was perfect for the setting...and had his truck deliver it to Holmes, where the principal and the staff were stunned by the generous gift of furniture...that was way beyond their expectations. Thanks Bruce for your service above self.
